I have been working professionally creating powerful imagery for more than 35 years. My tool of choice for recording images is a large format 4x5 field camera. The large film size allows even mural size prints to retain astonishing detail and image tone. The intricate film to lens alignment made possible by the large format camera's movements allow me to achieve my unique vision.

My work explores the natural environment with both classical and abstract views using light and perspective to convey my impressions. My landscape images come mainly from the deserts and mountains of the southwestern US National Parks, Monuments and Forests. I work and travel from my home in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in northern California.

My passion for making photographs started more than 50 years ago when I was introduced to the magic of photography by my father while working in a tiny darkroom in the basement of my parents' home. Motivated by my eagerness to learn the craft, I have followed in the footsteps of the great landscape photographers that preceded me. Studying the work of Ansel Adams, the Westons and others, I have taught myself the techniques necessary to express my artful and active imagination.
